Marquez Elementary Charter School provides a free, nonsectarian, public education for students in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 5.

We serve an urban, multicultural, multiethnic student body without regard for ethnicity, sex, age, national origin, or disability. 

The school’s educational program serves students of all abilities ranging from those who require remedial attention to gifted and highly gifted children.

Enrollment Process

STEP 1 

Check Your Zone

As a neighborhood school, the first priority in admissions is given to students who live in its attendance area in the Pacific Palisades community of Los Angeles.

To find out if you are in our attendance area for enrollment, please go to lausd.net, click on Find a School, and then go to Resident School Identifier.

For 2019-2020 Resident School Enrollment:

Residents may pick up enrollment packets beginning April 22, 2019 (please refer to Step 2 below for necessary documentation)

2020-2021 Charter Lottery for Non- Residents (Important Dates)

LAUSD has a new enrollment process for non-resident students* who wish to attend Affiliated Charter schools.  This includes siblings of currently enrolled students who were admitted through the lottery. Non-resident applicants who wish to attend an affiliated charter school must complete the Unified Enrollment (UE) application. Parents/Guardians may apply for more than one Affiliated Charter school online. This can be done by going to https://goto.lausd.net/

Unified Enrollment Timeline:

October 1, 2019 - window for on-time applications opens

November 15, 2019 - window for on-time applications closes

December 2019 - Families who applied with an on-time application will be notified of receipt through a confirmation letter

February 21, 2020 – Marquez will receive a list of applications from Unified Enrollment and will conduct a public drawing (lottery) for non-resident students.

February 3, 2020 – Late application window opens and applicants will be placed on a wait list.

March 2020 – On-time applicants will receive a letter in US Mail to inform them of their selection status.

May 2020-August 2020 – Schools contact on-time applicants on the wait list when space becomes available.  Parents/guardians who accept a selection will begin the enrollment process with the school.

*If the number of students who wish to attend Marquez Charter School exceeds the school’s capacity or the capacity of students that can be accommodated at any grade level, then the admission of new students is determined by a public random drawing [Education Code 47605(d)(2)(B)]. The random drawing for determining admission priority shall take into account the admission and enrollment priorities outlined in Marquez's Charter.

STEP 2

Pick Up Registration Packet

Please stop by our school office to pick up your packet and bring:

  • Proof of Residence
    Escrow papers, lease agreement, official government mail or utility bill (only gas, water or electric bills acceptable). Phone bills will not be accepted. You must bring the original document to the office to be copied.

  • Valid Parent ID

STEP 3

Submit Your Registration Packet

Return your completed packet to our school office along with:

  • Proof of Child’s Age
    Birth Certificate (not Hospital Certificate) or Passport . You must bring the original document to the office to be copied

  • Verification of Immunizations
    A health card or printout stamped by the medical office or clinic administering the vaccines or in the form of a letter on the doctor’s or clinic’s letterhead. Follow this link for LAUSD’s immunization policy.
